About

BHX is a premium recording studio near Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, with a purpose-built control room and live room designed by Northward Acoustics, one of the world’s most respected studio acoustic design companies.

When we set out to build the studio back in 2016, our aim was simple: create a space where world-class acoustics form the foundation of every recording, mix and session. Two purpose-built rooms, each built around precision, workflow and sound.

The studio combines private access, analogue character and release-ready sound for recording, mixing, mastering, production, voiceovers, live sessions and dry hire.

A quiet, self-contained space that’s easy to reach, while far enough from the city noise to stay focused on the work.

The Control Room

Built around an Amek Media 51 console, the control room is clean, dry and detailed, designed for accurate monitoring and confident mix decisions.

It’s also a comfortable space. Low lighting, room to relax, and a setup that keeps artists and engineers connected.

The Live Room

High ceilings, shaped surfaces, no flat walls - everything designed to let sound breathe. Big, open, but controlled.

Drums, guitars, vocals, acoustic instruments - it all benefits from the space. You get depth and size you can’t fake later.

The space

Comfortable, focused, and easy to work in. Whether you’re tracking vocals, instruments, or a full session, you won't have anything holding you back.

The sound

Clear, balanced, and detailed. What you record at BHX Studio will translate to headphones, in the car, or on a sound system.

How sessions run

Straightforward and relaxed - we ensure that all sessions at BHX Studio are focused on getting the best out of your project.

Why the space matters

Gear matters - but it’s only part of the story. Most people focus on gear - mics, desks, preamps. But it’s the room that gives recordings their depth and cohesion - get that right at the source, and everything else falls into place.

How we record

We use a range of microphones - each chosen for a specific purpose. Most sessions use a blend - close and room, sometimes more - to capture both the sound and the space around it.

The rooms are fully isolated, so what you hear is clean and accurate, while the live room keeps the energy intact.
